Our Story

Par Adjacent started with friendship and a love of golf. Ryan and I first met back in junior high, and years later in 2009, Facebook reconnected us when we realized we lived just down the road from each other here in Kansas City.

By 2013, we were playing together in a golf league at Painted Hills. After a short break from the league, we came back—and I eventually took over running it. Golf nights quickly became more than just rounds of play. Out on the course, we developed an inside joke: whenever we didn’t quite follow the rules to the “tee,” we’d say we were “Par Adjacent.” Technically, the hole might have been a bogey, but we’d mark it down as a par with a little asterisk. It was our way of saying we were close enough and having fun along the way.

As I took on more of the marketing and built a website for the league, I started experimenting with graphic design. One day I sketched out a rough logo idea and shared it with Ryan. That spark turned into something bigger—the launch of Par Adjacent, our golf-inspired apparel company.

At the end of the day, we’re just two guys who love golf and the good times that come with it. Starting this business has been a learning experience, and while we’ve made mistakes along the way, we’ve also learned a ton about building something from scratch. Through it all, the spirit of Par Adjacent remains the same: enjoying the game, not taking ourselves too seriously, and bringing that laid-back golf energy into what we create.
